Skiing & Snowboarding at Perisher Resort, NSW

Perisher is a Vails Resorts property and boasts over 3000 skiable acres spread across four interconnected resort areas. A family-friendly resort geared for all ages and levels with about 80% of the mountain suited for beginners and intermediates, and advanced terrain for the powder hounds. This sprawling Aussie ski resort has enough terrain to not track the same slope twice!

Perisher’s Skitube Alpine Railway

Perisher’s 4 unique villages and resort areas are connected by the Skitube Alpine Railway, Australia’s only underground alpine railway. The swiss-designed Skitube runs from the Bullocks Flat Terminal, tunnelling through the Ramshead Range to Perisher Valley, then through the Perisher Range on to Blue Cow. The Skitube runs from the June long weekend to October long weekend and is free with a valid mountain pass. The Bullocks Flat terminal is only 20km from Jindabyne with free parking, snowsports hire facilities and frequent services to the slopes of Perisher Valley and Blue Cow.

Perisher’s Unique Ski Villages

Perisher Valley is the largest village and the gateway to the slopes with great restaurant options, family-friendly terrain, childcare and kids ski school at Front Valley. This is a busy and exciting resort area with a terrain park and Australia’s only half-pipe. Blue Cow is accessed via the Skitube and is great for all levels with Devil’s Playground for a challenging glade run. Guthega is a locals favorite with some of the best skiing at Perisher, on-mountain dining, access to Guthega’s off-piste terrain and awesome views of the Snowy Mountains. If you’re travelling with small kids or true beginners, head to Smiggin Holes. This small ski area offers gentle bowl skiing protected from the elements and is easily accessible on green runs from Perisher Valley and Blue Cow. Perisher is not part of the Mountain Collective or Ikon ski passes.

Perisher’s Terrain Parks

Perisher’s terrain parks cater for all levels and attract the world’s best skiers and snowboarders to the southern hemisphere’s “best terrain park for experts” and Australia’s only half-pipe. If you’re wanting to work on your park-riding abilities, Perisher is the NSW ski resort for you. Piper or Yabby Flat Mini for beginners, Leichhardt Terrain Park and Blue Cow Park for intermediate to advanced riders and the world-class PlayStation Slopestyle Terrain Park.

Off the slopes at Perisher Resort

Off the slopes Perisher features over 100km of cross country trails, intimate mountain dining, aprés ski and spa treatments at the iconic Man from Snowy River Hotel. Perisher Village is smaller than Thredbo but offers a warm welcome to one of Australia’s favourite ski resorts.

Summer Bushwalking & Mountain Biking

Summer in the Snowies is spectacular! Perisher does not have lift access during the summer months so hiking and biking begins at Perisher Village. Take a family-friendly 4km bike ride around Perisher Village or venture into the outback on a 20km return mountain bike ride from Perisher to Charlotte Pass. You can travel as far as Rawson Pass by bike and hike a further 1.4km to Australia’s rooftop, Mt Kosciuszko Summit.

Bushwalking in the Snowy Mountains is a guaranteed way to get the top views of Australia’s highest peaks. The Porcupine Track is a 5.7km return trail that winds from the Man of Snowy River Hotel through open fields of snow gums and wildflowers to striking granite boulders, the Porcupine Rocks. The Perisher-Blue Cow link is a scenic 10km round trip that follows the creek and boasts spectacular views of 7 of Australia’s highest peaks from the Blue Cow Lookout.

Events & Festivals

From neon night skiing and on-snow fireworks (kids ski free!) to local events and first track tours of untouched corduroy, Perisher Resort offers fun festivals and events throughout the year.
