Skiing & Snowboarding

The Snowy Mountains are home to 4 unique ski resorts: Thredbo, Perisher, Charlotte’s Pass and Selwyn. Thredbo and Perisher are easily accessible from Jindabyne with on mountain activities for the whole family.

Thredbo lies at the foot of the Crackenback Range with 1200 skiable acres, the highest vertical drop of any Australian ski resort, gentle slopes for beginners, four terrain parks and the longest ski run in Australia. Thredbo village has a true alpine village ambiance with restaurants and aprés ski overlooking the slopes, family-friendly amenities and stunning scenery.

Perisher gives you the opportunity to never ski the same run twice with 3,000 acres of skiable terrain over four unique villages (Perisher Valley, Smiggin Holes, Guthega and Blue Cow) connected by an underground alpine railway. Perisher is one of the top ski resorts in Australia and the largest ski resort in the southern hemisphere with the highest terrain, greatest number of lifts and most reliable snow in the Snowy Mountains.

Charlottes Pass is the highest village in Australia and is only accessible by oversnow transport from the Perisher Valley ski tube terminal.

Cross-country Skiing & Snow Shoeing

Cross country skiing and snowshoeing is a great way to get off the slopes, away from the crowds and natural isolation in the seclusion of Kosciuszko National Park. There are plenty of cross country and snowshoe trails from the villages of Thredbo and Perisher that lead you into the wilderness. Rentals, cross country ski tours and snowshoe tours are available at both resorts.

Backcountry Tours

The Snowy Mountains are a great place to get away from it all.  In winter, enjoy the solitude and the scenery of awe-inspiring granite cliffs and crags of places like The Sentinal, Schlink Pass and Watsons Crags. Glide in fresh powder beneath ‘Kosi Cornice’ or try ice-climbing at Blue Lake. Experience these incredible Jindabyne backcountry experiences with a local guide and licensed tour operators.
